Located in the famous Skeleton Coast National Park between the Hoarusib and Hoanib rivers, Shipwreck Lodge just 45 km north of Möwe Bay with the pristine, untouched surroundings will take your breath away. Ten 'shipwreck-stlye' cabins are spread out along the sand dunes with the spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. The design was inspired by the famous shipwrecks that can be found along the Skeleton Coast. Emphasizing a light footprint in the area by operating eco-friendly and using solar-power. This exclusive destination opened its doors in June 2018 and is one of Namibia’s most mystical places to spend the night.

Wake up to spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and fall asleep to the crackling of the wood-burning stove. The lodge offers 8 twins or double and 2 family cabins, all ensuite and solar-powered. Each room has a shower, toilet and washbasin complimented with the necessary guest amenities, including a writing desk, bedside lamp and a wood burning stove. A small coffee and tea station with hot water flask (delivered to your room by our staff) are included for your convenience.

  • Children 6 - 18 years charged 50% of the adult rate per night (sharing with adults)

  • All lodges accept children of all ages
  • Children under 12 years charged 50% of activities

Not included:

  • Premium brand drinks, transfers between Shipwreck Lodge and Hoanib Valley Camp, gratuities and fully comprehensive personal travel insurance not included in nightly rate.
  • PRIVATE VEHICLES: Charged per night. Private vehicles can accommodate 7 guests; 
  • ROAD TRANSFERS: Transfers depart from Mowe Bay at 15:00 for the lodge and depart from the lodge to Mowe Bay at around 07:30 to arrive by 09:00. Road transfers between Shipwreck Lodge and Hoanib Valley Camp are charged at N$2,500 er person each way.

Möwe Bay Seal Colony

There are day excursions to the Möwe Bay seal colony. Guests will be shown the remnants of the Suiderkus Shipwreck, along the beach past the remains of the Karimona shipwreck, abandoned Westies diamond mine, remains of the Ventura Bomber, to the beautiful natural wind shelter created by the reeds at the Flamingo pools.

This is situated in a special place made extra special by the detail in architecture and interior design and complimented by the wonderful staff. Photos do not do any justice. Visit the place for yourself. Breakfast is full continental, lunch is two courses followed by high tea in the afternoon, dinner is 3 courses and always caters for the carnivore, vegetarian and pescatarian.
